Overview Aintree was named a separate suburb under the administration of the City of Melton local government in 2017. It was among the 11 new suburbs that came into existence that year in the outer west periphery of Melbourne. About 29 km from Melbourne, Aintree borders Bonnie Brook to the north, Grangefields to the west, Deanside to the east and Rockbank to the south. It is home to more than 1,500 residents.

Living in Aintree Once a nondescript land, Aintree today is home to sprawling, innovative housing estates with modern civic amenities, parks, schools and recreational centres. The suburb has become one of the fastest-growing suburbs in outer Melbourne following large-scale projects initiated by real estate developer Woodlea Estate.

Most housing estates showcase sync between planned homes and the neighbourhood landscape and have a multicultural population of the higher middle class. Planned public places, schools, recreation reserves and transport add to ease of living in Aintree.

History of Aintree Aintree was part of Rockbank until 2017, when the area north of the Western Freeway was made a separate suburb. The locality was named after a place of similar name in Merseyside, northwest England. Aintree is an Anglo-Saxon word meaning "one tree" or "a lonely tree standing." The area was part of a volcanic plain interspersed with big rocks when early European settlers arrived. Perhaps, the absence of too many trees led to the locality named Aintree.

Aintree hosted a word record event when 835 participants received a soccer lesson together on 26 October 2019. It was the largest such event ever organised.
