Overview Drewvale is a multicultural suburb in outer Brisbane. It is located 28 km south of the city CBD, with Logan City 23 km south of Drewvale. This Queensland suburb is Brisbane’s fourth most southern locality and the southern-most dedicated residential hub. Drewvale had 4,476 residents at the 2016 census.
Living in Drewvale Drewvale is a multicultural suburb, with over 60% born outside Australia. The suburb is positioned at the intersection of M2, M6, the Gateway Motorway, the Mount Lindesay Highway and the Logan Motorway. This makes it easier for Drewvale residents to travel to Brisbane, Ipswich and Gold Coast. The commercial and industrial suburbs of Parkinson, Heathwood and Larapinta, are located to the south, while Logan City is next door, enabling job and economic opportunities. Drewvale has educational institutions, parks, playgrounds and shopping hubs nearby. Public transport is excellent, while Stretton State College is just minutes away from Drewvale.
History of Drewvale Drewvale is named after the estate of the Drew family. The area was primarily a forest when early settlers arrived. Soon it became a grazing ground with sparsely populated homesteads. During the 1870s, the Drew family set up their farm, and the estate became Drewvale. The area was unofficially named Drewvale. In 1971, when the Queensland Place Names Board considered naming suburbs around Brisbane, they accepted Drewvale as the official name.
