History Ingle Farm is a suburb of Adelaide, located at the base of the Mount Lofty Ranges foothills. It covers an area of 4.47 km2 with a population density of 19.41 people per hectare in 2001. The Rowe family arrived in South Australia on the "South Australian" in 1837 and spent two years on Kangaroo Island before settling at Ingle Farm with their 100 acres of land in 1849. Their grandson, Jabez Sleeman Rowe, took over the farm in 1902, marrying Martha Barbara Wright from Inglewood in the same year. The South Australian Housing Trust purchased 730 acres of Ingle Farm from Cyril and Slem Rowe in 1959 for a housing estate, starting the first home builds in 1965. There are now 2,500 houses built by 1975.
