History of Longueville The name “Longueville” is speculated to be kept in honour of Duc De Longueville, a French Nobleman. The area of Longueville was initially inhabited by the Cam-mer-ray-gal group of the Ku-ring-gai Aboriginal Tribe. In 1831, this area became home to one of the earliest manufacturing industries, the Rupert Kirks soap and factory. The suburb of Longueville began developing in the 1870s. By 1884, there were only two houses in this area, owned by Henry Lamb and Joseph Palmer. Longueville was officially proclaimed as a suburb in the 1920s.
