History of Mount Hutton Upon the arrival of the European colonisers, the first settler in Mount Hutton was Thomas Williams. Before that, it is believed that the Aboriginal people of Awabakal were the original inhabitants of the land.
In 1916, Veronica and James Dunkley settled in Mount Hutton, which was then called Warners Bay Road, Charlestown. The Dunkley’s residence was a venue for Progress Association meetings. Here, Mr Dunkley suggested naming the area as Mount Hutton, after Dr Hutton, who also was a resident.
