Living in Tuerong Tuerong is an underrated suburb with a charming semi-rural appeal. The Devilbend Reservoir is the primary physical attraction in the suburb; it is no longer used as a water source today but serves as a good destination for a swim or paddleboarding.

The Bittern Reservoir in Hodgins Road is close to the Devilbend Natural Park. While smaller than the Devilbend Reservoir, the Bittern has two tracks - The Bittern Circuit Track and the Catch Drain Trail. In the reservoir are picnic tables and some bench seats. Birdlife around and on the water is incredible. There are some kangaroos, too. The many pine trees surrounding Tuerong add to the appeal of this town.

History of Tuerong A 1200-acre squatting area between Yuille, Jamieson, Balcombe, McCrae, Coolart and Tuck was named Tuerong. William Dawson was one of the first squatters in the area.

The Butler and Brooke directory reveals that in 1866-1867, the 640-acre Vaughan and Wild were on Tuerong. The property was reduced to 600 acres to give way to government roads. The Vaughan and Wild is what is today the Tuerong Park.
